Floyd County Legacy Foundation Awards $217,000 in Funding to 15 Area Nonprofits

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – In February, the Floyd County Legacy Foundation (FCLF) solicited grant applications from local nonprofits whose mission is to help support Floyd County residents in Southern Indiana. For 2024, the FCLF is pleased to announce it has awarded grants to 15 area nonprofit organizations totaling $217,000.

The grant program, which is in its fifth year, awards grants to organizations that meet the needs and priorities of Southern Indiana residents living in New Albany, Floyds Knobs, Greenville, Georgetown, and Galena using the Priorities for Progress—Assets and Aspirations in Southern Indiana 2021 Report, which was produced in partnership with the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana and Indiana University Southeast Applied Research and Education Center.

This year’s grant recipients include:

Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County ($7,000) – Weekend Food Program for NAFCS Students

Brandon’s House Counseling Center ($25,000) – Counseling Center Renovations

CASA of Floyd County ($25,000) – Essential Resources for Staff and Volunteers

Choices Life Resource Center ($15,000) – Renovations within New Albany Branch

Christian Formation Ministries, Inc. ($10,000) – Scholarships to participate in the Kerith Kids and Camp Kerith of Southern Indiana Programs

Floyd County 4-H Corporation Board, Inc. ($10,000) – Youth Training Courses

Friends of Open Door Youth Services ($15,000) – Upgrade Essential Shelter Infrastructure

Habitat for Humanity Clark and Floyd Indiana ($10,000) – Support of Home Building Program

Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana ($5,000) – Support White Flag Emergency Winter Weather Shelter and Street Outreach

Jacob’s Well ($20,000) – Begin Construction on Community Center

Personal Counseling Services, Inc. ($25,000) – Provide Mental Health Services to Victims from the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office

Province of Our Lady of Consolation, Inc. at Mount St. Francis ($10,000) – Repave Parking Lot

Rauch, Inc. ($20,000) – Improve Rauch's Fairmont Neighborhood Center

Silver Heights Camp and Retreat Center ($15,000) – Additional Meeting Space

The Healing Place ($5,000) – Serve Floyd Co. Residents Suffering from Addiction, Substance Use Disorder, and Homelessness
